Easily Find Where a Photo Was Taken From Messages

Do you want to see where a photo that was sent to you in Messages was taken? We’ll use the Photo Investigator‘s extension to do this.  So install the app before going through these steps.

You can also use the Photo Investigator extension to see a photo’s GPS location from Photos, Mail, Safari and other apps.  If you unlock editing in the main app, then you can also remove a picture’s GPS location from the extension.  Check out the map in the main app’s photo picker to quickly find your GPS photos on a map.

Sometimes a photo doesn’t have a location. Here are some reasons why a photo may not have a GPS location in the metadata.

This is a useful method to see the location of a photo someone sent to you. A lot of people don’t know that you can see the location of a photo from Messages, so please share this tutorial!

UPDATE: 12/13/2021

You can tap the map in the extension to open the GPS location in Google Maps, Waze, Maps.me, Gaia GPS, Yandex Maps, or Sygic navigation and mapping apps.

The Photo Investigator App makes viewing, editing, removing and sending photo metadata easy. Photo and video metadata may include location (if enabled by the camera), date, device, software versions, file size, file name, an “iOS Metadata” section, and many more metadata items. more. Users can view and share DEPTH MAPS by selecting a portrait photo and tapping “Portrait”.
